Good lighting changes how a home or workspace feels and functions, and in the UAE, it also has to cope with false-ceiling heat, hours of daily use and outdoor conditions that destroy cheap fittings within a season. The right fittings, drivers and installation make the difference between lights that last for years and lights that flicker, fail or trip the electricity.

We install indoor, LED and outdoor lighting for apartments, villas, offices and shops in Dubai and across all seven emirates, and we replace failed fittings and drivers.

Indoor lighting we install

Downlights

Recessed downlights in false ceilings are the most common lighting in UAE homes. We install new downlights and replace old halogen and CFL fittings with integrated LED units, checking cut-out sizes so the ceiling does not need patching.

Cove and strip lighting

LED strip lighting in ceiling coves, under kitchen cabinets, behind headboards and along stairs adds soft, indirect light. Strips need the right driver, aluminium profiles to manage heat, and accessible connections.

Pendants, chandeliers and feature lights

Heavier fittings need secure fixings to the slab rather than the false ceiling. We check the weight and fixing method before installation.

Panels and commercial lighting

LED panels and linear fittings for offices, shops and utility areas, laid out to give even light without glare.

Upgrading to LED

LEDs use far less energy than halogen and incandescent lamps, produce less heat in the ceiling void, and last much longer when installed properly. Options include:

  • LED lamps in existing fittings, the simplest change where the fitting is sound
  • Integrated LED fittings, which replace the whole downlight and usually give better heat management and a longer life
  • Replacing fluorescent tubes with LED tubes or new LED fittings

When upgrading, check that existing dimmers and transformers are compatible. Old halogen transformers and dimmers are a common cause of LED flicker and early failure.

Drivers, dimmers and flicker

Most LED fittings rely on a driver that converts mains power to the low voltage or constant current the LEDs need. The driver is usually the first part to fail, especially in a hot ceiling void. Quality drivers rated for the temperature they will work in last much longer.

Flicker usually comes from:

  • an incompatible dimmer: many LEDs need a trailing-edge dimmer and a minimum load
  • a failing or low-quality driver
  • a loose connection
  • mixing different LED types on one dimmer circuit

Strip lighting needs either constant-voltage or constant-current drivers, matched to the strip, with long runs fed from more than one point to avoid dimming at the far end.

When we install dimmable lighting, we match fittings, drivers and dimmers so they work together.

Choosing light colour and brightness

Colour temperature is measured in kelvin (K). Warm white, around 2700–3000 K, suits living rooms and bedrooms. Neutral white, around 4000 K, suits kitchens, bathrooms and offices. Cool white, above 5000 K, can feel harsh in homes.

Brightness is measured in lumens. The number and spacing of downlights depend on room size, ceiling height and what the space is used for.

Colour rendering (CRI) describes how naturally colours appear. Higher CRI fittings make kitchens, dressing areas and retail displays look better.

Outdoor and garden lighting

Outdoor lighting in the UAE faces intense sun, high temperatures, dust, humidity and irrigation water. Fittings and installation need to suit those conditions:

  • IP rating. Outdoor fittings need an ingress protection rating suitable for their position, typically IP65 or higher for exposed areas, and IP67 or IP68 for in-ground and submersible lights.
  • Heat and UV. Plastic fittings and cable sheaths can become brittle in direct sun. Metal and UV-stable materials last longer.
  • Connections. Most outdoor faults start at joints. Sealed, rated junction boxes and correct cable glands keep moisture out.
  • RCD protection for all outdoor circuits.

Damp getting into outdoor fittings is one of the most common causes of RCD trips in UAE villas, often after irrigation runs or on humid mornings. If your garden lights are already tripping, see electrical fault finding.

We install wall lights, bollards, spike lights, uplighters, step lights and façade lighting.

Lighting controls

  • Dimmers matched to LED loads
  • Two-way and intermediate switching for stairs and long corridors
  • Timers and photocells for outdoor lights, so they switch on at dusk
  • Motion sensors for entrances, garages and storerooms
  • Smart lighting controlled by app or voice, where the system and wiring suit it

How we work

We agree the layout and fittings, check the circuits and the board, quote, install, and test every circuit. New circuits or relocated switches may involve wiring work. Our work carries a 1-month workmanship warranty, and new parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s terms.

Cost and coverage

The cost depends on the number and type of fittings, who supplies them, ceiling access, new wiring or switching, outdoor cabling and controls. We install lighting in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Our office is in Al Khabaisi, Dubai. Visits within Dubai are free; outside Dubai a AED 250 site-visit charge applies, which is fully deducted from the service cost if you go ahead. All visits are scheduled in advance.

Lighting by room

  • Kitchens need bright, even task lighting over worktops, often with under-cabinet strips to avoid shadows from wall units.
  • Bathrooms need fittings rated for wet zones near showers and baths, and lighting around mirrors that is even and shadow-free.
  • Bedrooms suit warm, dimmable light, with switching from the bed.
  • Living rooms and majlis benefit from layered lighting: general downlights, cove lighting and feature or reading lights on separate circuits.
  • Stairs and corridors need two-way switching or sensors, and step lights are useful for safety.
  • Garages, storerooms and utility areas need bright, practical fittings, often with motion sensors.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install LED lamps in my existing downlights?

Often, yes, if the fittings are sound and any transformer or dimmer is compatible. Integrated LED downlights are usually more reliable long-term.

Why do my new LED lights flicker when dimmed?

Usually an incompatible dimmer or too low a load on the dimmer. A compatible LED dimmer normally solves it.

Can you fit lights I bought myself?

Yes. We check that they are suitable for the location, especially outdoors, before fitting.

Why do my garden lights keep failing?

Heat, UV and moisture. Fittings with a low IP rating, poor joints or plastic bodies tend to fail quickly outdoors in the UAE.

Can you replace a failed LED driver?

Yes, where the driver is separate from the fitting. Integrated units may need replacing as a whole.

Do you supply light fittings, or should I buy them?

Either works. If you are buying your own, share the specification with us first, especially for outdoor or bathroom positions.

How many downlights does a room need?

It depends on room size, ceiling height, the fittings’ output and how the room is used. We plan spacing so light is even, without dark patches or glare.

Are LED fittings safe to cover with insulation?

Only fittings designed for it. Many downlights need clearance above them to release heat; covering them shortens their life.

Can you add lighting to a room without a false ceiling?

Yes, with surface-mounted fittings, wall lights or track lighting fed from existing points or new surface wiring.

Can outdoor lights be put on a timer?

Yes. A timer, photocell or astronomical time switch can turn garden and façade lights on at dusk and off at a set time, which saves energy and avoids lights being left on all night.
